Okay, all you Lestat fans out there, I bet you are all beaming from ear to ear and showing off your fangs due to the news we all heard on April 28th.  Anne Rice announced that “Paramount Television and Anonymous Content Option Rights to Anne Rice’s Best-Selling Series, “The Vampire Chronicles” (Rice).

Per Anne Rice’s Facebook page, Paramount Television and Anonymous Content have the rights to eleven books from Anne Rice’s series titled “The Vampire Chronicles.”

We found out last year, Anne Rice’s son, Christopher, will join her in the writing the series and being executive producers. What is new is that David Kanter, known for “The Revenant,” and Steven Golin, known for “The Revenant” and “Being John Malkovich” will join the team.

Anne Powell is quoted:

We should thank “David Goldman and Erika Kirkwood for Paramount TV, and Creative Artists Agency and Christine Cuddy of Kleinberg Lange Cuddy & Carlo LLP” (Rice) for negotiating this deal on behalf of Anne Rice and her son Christopher Rice.

Where we will see our dark prince, is yet unknown. He may debut in 2018, let’s hope. There are many outlets that the show can be seen. Netflix, HBO, Starz, and Showtime are good contenders for the series. Spike could be in the running due to them being a part of the Paramount Network family. Per Wayne Friedman of the Media Post, Spike is to change their name to help broaden their audience.

In 1976, Anne Rice brought Lestat to us. We all read about him and fell in love. I did not read about him ’till I was about to graduate high school in 1992.  Lestat also graced us with his presence on the silver screen in “Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles” in 1994 starring Tom Cruise, and in “Queen of the Damned” starring Stuart Townsend in 2002. In 2006, Lestat took to the stage in a musical starring, Hugh Panaro.

There is no casting, yet. We can still daydream on whom we would like to see cast for the roles. Whom would you like to see cast as Lestat, Louis, Marius and the others? Comment below with your cast picks.
